Shopify product listing AI for resellers

Photo-first product creation for Shopify stores. Multi-channel ready.

The problem

Shopify product setup is fast — until you actually start adding products.

Shopify's product editor is well-designed, but it's still a form. For a new product, you type the title, write the description, pick the product type, add tags, set the price, configure variants, upload images, set the inventory count, and pick the right collection. For a store with 100 SKUs, that's a long week of data entry. For a reseller moving used or vintage inventory where every product is unique, the form-filling never ends.

The reseller-on-Shopify pattern is particularly painful because the variety of products defeats template-based approaches. Every item is different. Every item needs its own title, description, tags, and variants.

HumCity's Shopify integration applies the same AI workflow to Shopify products. Drop the photos, get the products. Titles and descriptions are generated, variants are inferred, collections are suggested. The same inventory can ship to Shopify and eBay from one workflow, which matters because most resellers running both channels currently maintain inventory in two systems.

What you get

Capabilities built for this exact workflow.

  • AI generates product title, description, and specs from images

Drop a product photo and HumCity generates the Shopify product title (optimized for store search and Google Shopping), a multi-paragraph product description (highlighting features, condition, materials), and structured product specs (vendor, type, tags). The description respects Shopify's rich-text formatting.

  • Multi-channel: Shopify + eBay from one workflow

The same inventory item ships to Shopify and eBay simultaneously. The AI generates channel-appropriate output — a long-form description for Shopify, an 80-character title for eBay — from the same source photos. Inventory levels sync across channels so you don't oversell.

  • Variant handling for size, color, condition

Variants are inferred from multi-photo product shoots — size labels, color swatches, condition photos all become structured variants. Each variant gets its own SKU, price, and inventory count. Variant-level pricing follows the channel-appropriate strategy (Shopify retail vs eBay competitive).

  • Background removal and image optimization for Shopify

Shopify product images perform best on clean white or transparent backgrounds. HumCity's built-in background removal applies the right treatment automatically. Image alt text is generated for accessibility and Google Shopping visibility.

  • Bulk product creation

Pile Mode supports 500 photos per upload for Shopify as well. Drop a sourcing haul, get a complete product catalog ready for review. Bulk-edit applies across product fields — change all the tags in a category, update prices, swap vendors.

  • Collection and tag suggestions

The AI suggests Shopify collections and tags based on the product attributes — useful for store organization and customer browsing. Suggestions can be auto-applied or held for manual review. Collection rules in Shopify continue to work as expected on AI-tagged products.

Use cases

Built for the way real resellers work.

Resellers running Shopify as their owned channel

Resellers who use Shopify as the owned channel (and eBay for discovery) need product creation to scale on both. HumCity is the unified workflow — same photos, two channels, no duplicate data entry. The owned channel's margins improve when the listing work doesn't bottleneck inventory turn.

Apparel and vintage clothing stores

Apparel and vintage clothing are particularly hostile to template-based product creation because every item is one-of-a-kind. HumCity reads brand tags, size labels, and condition from photos and generates per-item titles and descriptions. Variant handling covers the size + color matrix when applicable.

Collectibles dealers running a Shopify storefront

Many collectibles dealers run a Shopify storefront for direct sales (often with custom inventory like sealed wax, slabs, or graded items) alongside their eBay store. HumCity's collectibles-aware AI generates Shopify products with the same category-specific accuracy it brings to eBay — slab grades read correctly, set data populated, condition assessed.

Home goods and decor resellers

Vintage and used home goods (mid-century furniture, glassware, decor) sell well on Shopify with strong product photography and detailed descriptions. HumCity generates the descriptions, suggests collections (by era, by material, by style), and ships the products with the cleaned image set.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Shopify integration live today?
Shopify integration is in private beta. You can join the waitlist from the dashboard — early-beta sellers get hands-on onboarding and priority support during the rollout. eBay integration is live today and Shopify will ship to GA in the coming months.
Does it handle variants?
Yes — size, color, and condition variants are auto-grouped from multi-photo product shoots. Each variant gets its own SKU and inventory count. Variant pricing can follow per-channel strategy (different retail on Shopify vs eBay).
Will it work with my existing Shopify theme?
Yes — HumCity creates standard Shopify products. They render in your existing theme normally, respecting your product page layout, collection structure, and theme customizations.
Can I sync inventory between Shopify and eBay?
Yes — multi-channel inventory sync is part of the multi-channel workflow. When a unit sells on either channel, inventory decrements on both to prevent oversell. Inventory adjustments made in Shopify or eBay sync back to HumCity.
Does it support Shopify Markets and multi-currency?
Shopify Markets support is on the roadmap. Today, HumCity creates products in your store's primary market with your primary currency.
Will it generate SEO-friendly product descriptions?
Yes. Descriptions are generated to perform well in Shopify store search and Google Shopping — keyword-rich, structured into scannable sections, with relevant alt text on images.
Can I use my existing Shopify product types and collections?
Yes. On store connection, HumCity syncs your existing product types and collections. The AI suggests using existing types/collections when products match, and proposes new ones when something genuinely new comes in.
Does it work with Shopify Plus or just standard Shopify?
Both. Shopify, Shopify Plus, and Shopify Starter are all supported. Shopify Plus customers get higher-throughput API access automatically.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. Every account gets 50 free listings or revisions per month with no credit card required. Most resellers can fully evaluate the AI workflow, image recognition, and bulk upload before deciding to upgrade. Paid plans start at $10/month for 500 listings and scale with volume.
Which AI models power HumCity?
HumCity routes through Lovable AI Gateway, which selects between leading vision-language models from OpenAI and Google (GPT-5 / Gemini 2.5 / 3.x families) depending on the task. We constantly evaluate new models and silently upgrade the routing — you get the best available accuracy without changing how you work.
