Each eBay leaf category defines its own list of aspects, split into required aspects that block publication when missing and recommended aspects that strongly influence visibility. A trading card category asks for player, year, manufacturer, set, and card number; a smartphone category asks for brand, model, storage capacity, and network.

Item specifics matter more than most sellers assume because eBay's left-hand search filters are built entirely from them. A listing without a brand aspect vanishes the moment a buyer filters by brand, no matter how well written the title is.

Because the required set differs per category, filling specifics from memory doesn't scale. The reliable approach is to fetch the aspect list for the exact leaf category and fill it from the item itself — most values are printed on the object or its packaging.
