eBay condition
eBay condition is a structured field describing the physical state of an item, chosen from a set of valid values that varies by category, such as New, New other, Used, or For parts or not working.
Condition is not free text. Each category exposes a specific set of allowed condition values, and using a value that isn't valid for the chosen category causes the listing to be rejected. Some categories also require a condition description alongside the value.
Condition is the field with the highest buyer-expectation risk. Overstating it produces returns, refunds, and negative feedback — outcomes far more expensive than the small price difference between adjacent grades.
AI can suggest a condition from a photo based on visible wear, but it cannot inspect an item in hand or test whether something functions. Treat a generated condition as a prompt to confirm, never as a finding. In HumCity, condition is always a suggestion you approve before publishing.
